The Dayville Volunteer Fire Company was founded by Byron F Barrowclough as a ‘one-man’ fire department, as a response to the Assawauga Mill’s fire brigade being unable to provide fire protection services for the Village of Dayville.
The Dayville Volunteer Fire Company was incorporated into a three-company operation, with B. Russell Watt as Chief.
A new, larger station was built facing Hartford Pike.
The Lt. Dennis R Lemery Memorial Training Center opens, offering fire training services for the fire companies in Killingly and the surrounding areas.
